Elder Crossroads: Now what do We do?

We are older and move about differently than only a few years ago.  Our priorities have changed. We think about things, process our feelings and multitask in new and sometimes confusing ways, especially to younger folks. We may have different interests than we ever thought we would. This may be bewildering, confusing, odd, frustrating and sometimes downright angry, sad, peaceful or even lost. Sometimes it pressures us to reinvent ourselves.

Our Brains: Running Our Lives

The research is pouring in every day: we have more than one brain. In addition to what’s in our head, our guts and hearts are now considered “brains.” In fact, we may have a network of “brains”: the information highway of our autonomic and somatic nervous systems.

Pain: The Messenger

I didn’t know about the intricacies of Pain.

I didn’t know that Fear or anger or depression, anxiety, etc., came from pain or what these emotions actually are. I had to learn about this before I could see that I could do something about them that did not necessarily involve taking substances.
